Alert: Don’t Let Online Scams Steal Your Savings
Hello friends, Jason here from Christ IT Services. I wanted to share a recent news story as a helpful warning for our community, especially as we rely more on digital tools for daily life and even for managing finances.
The Threat:
A recent large fraud scheme convinced over 2,200 people to invest more than $220 million in a fake cattle company by promising incredibly high profits. These types of scams often appear very convincing online, making it hard to tell what’s real and what’s designed to steal your hard-earned money.
The Fix:
Here’s what you can do right now to protect yourself and your organization:
- Be Skeptical: If an investment or offer promises returns that seem "too good to be true," it almost certainly is. Legitimate opportunities rarely offer huge profits with no risk.
- Verify, Verify, Verify: Never rush into an investment or financial decision based on an online message or advertisement. Take your time to independently research the company and the people behind it. Don’t rely solely on the information they provide; look for reviews from trusted, independent sources, and consult with a financial advisor you already know.
- No Pressure: Legitimate offers won’t pressure you into making immediate decisions. If someone is rushing you or creating a sense of urgency, it’s a major red flag.
If you are unsure if an online offer you received via email or a website is legitimate, or if you clicked something suspicious that might have compromised your computer’s security, give Christ IT a call immediately. We can help ensure your systems are safe and provide guidance on avoiding digital traps. We are here to help!
