A recent case in our area revealed how a seemingly trusted financial advisor stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from his clients. He achieved this by getting them to sign documents that gave him control over their investments and even impersonated them to hide his actions.
To protect yourselves, it’s crucial to always carefully read and understand any document before signing, especially if it grants someone else access or control over your money. Additionally, regularly check your bank and investment statements for anything unusual, and if something seems off, always verify directly with the institution using a phone number you trust, not one provided by the person you’re questioning.
