Former Monte Vista Christian School Teacher Arrested on Suspicion of Sex Crimes
Jacob Lee, a former teacher at Monte Vista Christian School, was arrested on August 14 on suspicion of committing a lewd or lascivious act on a child who is 14 or 15. The charges stem from an incident allegedly occurring in 2022, which deputies in Santa Cruz County identified Lee as the suspect. Detectives traveled to Suffolk County, New York, to execute the arrest.
Sheriff Chris Clark emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating that when someone entrusted with educating and mentoring young people is accused of crimes against them, it represents a serious betrayal of trust. He reiterated that accountability cannot be evaded, noting that moving across the country does not erase allegations.
Lee taught biology at Monte Vista Christian School from August 2021 to February 2024. His LinkedIn page lists a degree in molecular biology from UC Santa Cruz, earned in 2020. The school has stated its commitment to the safety and care of its students, noting that all employees undergo thorough vetting, training, and evaluation processes.
In a statement provided to The Pajaronian, Monte Vista Christian School officials affirmed their dedication to creating a safe and supportive environment. They described any unsafe action toward members of their school community as a serious betrayal of trust. The statement also expressed a firm stance against those who prey on children, asserting that no one can escape accountability.
Because Lee was a teacher at the time of the alleged incident, detectives believe there may be other victims. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Det. Munoz at 831.454.7646.
The case underscores the importance of vigilance and integrity in institutions that serve minors. As Proverbs 31:8-9 reminds us, we are called to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. Such incidents challenge us to reflect on the responsibilities of those in positions of influence and the need for transparency and care.
