Former Christian school teacher sentenced to 18 months for possession of child sexual abuse material
Jeffrey Falk, a former teacher at Campbell River Christian School, has been sentenced to 18 months in jail after pleading guilty to possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material. The B.C. Prosecution Service stated that Falk’s sentence will be followed by a two-year probation order. The court also imposed a DNA order, a forfeiture order, and a prohibition order, which restricts Falk from being in public spaces where children under 18 may be present, as well as from working or volunteering in roles involving minors.
Police discovered a “substantial collection” of child sexual abuse and exploitation material during a search of Falk’s home in June 2025. The investigation was prompted by a tip from the U.S.-based National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in May 2025, which identified a Campbell River IP address linked to the upload of such material. Falk was employed at Campbell River Christian School until July 2025, but left the school on the same day officials became aware of the investigation.
Dennis Peeman, principal of Campbell River Christian School, acknowledged Falk’s sentencing, noting the matter has caused significant pain for those affected and the broader school community. Peeman emphasized the school’s commitment to the safety and well-being of children, expressing gratitude for the RCMP and justice system’s role in addressing the issue. As a Christian school, he said they seek to respond with truth, compassion, and the example of Jesus Christ.
The case highlights the importance of accountability and the need for vigilance in protecting minors. Proverbs 31:8-9 reminds us to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, and Micah 6:8 calls for justice, mercy, and humility. These principles underscore the responsibility of institutions to safeguard the vulnerable and uphold the dignity of every child.
