I’ve been up since 5:00 AM on this Saturday morning, doing what I love—Jesus stuff. This is my everyday routine, just living and breathing His Word. 🙌
Today, I’m sharing a doctrinal statement from a church I’ve come across. It’s packed with theological points, and I think it’s important for us to understand these aspects, even if we don’t adopt the same approach. Let’s jump right in:
- The Holy Bible: We believe the Holy Bible to be the inspired Word of God. God communicated everything He wanted us to know through the original languages of Scripture. This inspiration came from the Holy Spirit to the writers, who accurately recorded it without injecting their own ideas.
- The Nature of God: We believe in the Trinity—God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each has distinct attributes and functions: sovereignty, absolute righteousness, justice, love, eternal life, omniscience, omnipresence, omnipotence, immutability, and veracity. The Father designed the eternal plan, the Son fulfilled it, and the Holy Spirit reveals it.
- The Total Depravity of Man: In the beginning, Adam was created perfect in God’s image. However, through Adam’s disobedience, sin entered the world, affecting the entire human race and separating us from God.
Next, I’ll read from another church’s doctrinal statement from Missouri. Here’s a brief highlight:
- The Trinity: We believe in the co-equal, co-eternal, and co-infinite existence of a triune Godhead—one essence in deity but three in personality: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
- The Birth of Christ: Jesus Christ entered human history through the virgin birth, initiated by a miracle of the Holy Spirit.
There’s a lot more in these statements about doctrines like rewards, dispensations, the royal priesthood, the church, marriage, Eucharist, tithing, and spiritual gifts. 📖
But here’s the thing—when I read my Bible, I don’t see this kind of legalism. I see a story of God wanting to make friends, for those friends to be awesome, and for them to be willing to prove themselves. Yet, we humans often fail, living selfishly and forgetting about God. We blame Him for making things too hard, but then He stepped into our world to show us how to live. ✝️
At Christ Peer-to-Peer, we focus on living out the simplicity and authenticity of God’s Word. You won’t find a big doctrinal statement or a mission statement from us. Our vision is straightforward: live like Christ, love others, and share His message.
Thanks for tuning in, and remember, it’s all about Him. 🙏
