Methodist Preacher Dies Five Minutes Into Sermon in Harare

A United Methodist Church preacher in Zimbabwe tragically collapsed and died while delivering a sermon in Harare on Tuesday evening. Norest Nyakudanga, 66, an evangelist from the Seke South Circuit, collapsed just five minutes into his sermon at Chisipiti United Methodist Church. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

His passing was confirmed in a Facebook post by a church member, which was subsequently shared by the Seke South Circuit. The post stated that Nyakudanga was a prayer warrior of repute who transformed lives through his sermons. His death has sent shockwaves through the local community and the broader church network.

Nyakudanga was a respected figure within the church, having been a member of the Mubvuwi WeUnited Methodist Church organisation since his youth. He was also the chairperson of the Greater Mutoko MUMC Choir, which was established this year. His leadership and dedication were widely acknowledged by those who knew him.

Funeral arrangements have been made, with Nyakudanga set to be laid to rest on Sunday at his rural home in Mutoko. A service was held on Wednesday evening at his home in Zengeza, Chitungwiza, and another will be held on Friday at his circuit. The body will lie in state briefly at his home before being transported to Nyaradzo Funeral Parlour.

Nyakudanga is survived by his wife, Taurai Chinyani, and three daughters, Mazvita, Nomusa, and Nyaradzo. The community is coming together to mourn the loss of a man who dedicated his life to serving others. (Proverbs 31:8-9)
