Redding, California, nonprofit launches 14-unit permanent supportive housing project for homeless population
Redding, Calif. — A collaborative effort between several Shasta County agencies is set to provide 14 new housing units for individuals experiencing homelessness. The project, known as Parkview Haven, is being developed by US-Offsite, a company that uses innovative modular construction methods. The units will be built in warehouses south of the Redding Regional Airport and transported to the site on Parkview Avenue near City Hall.
US-Offsite operates by constructing housing units within large warehouses, assembling them like Lego blocks. Each unit is fully finished with fixtures, appliances, and even furnishings, ready for immediate use. The company can deliver these units to locations across the country, including San Diego to Seattle, with one-day shipping. Once on-site, the units are lifted by crane and stacked to create multi-story developments.
The Parkview Haven project is led by FaithWorks, a Redding-area nonprofit that focuses on faith-based initiatives. FaithWorks Executive Director Crystal Spencer expressed excitement about the new program, emphasizing that it will offer permanent housing with on-site supportive services for unsheltered individuals. “These are beautiful. We’re so excited to be able to provide this new program,” Spencer said.
FaithWorks, as its name indicates, is rooted in faith. Spencer credited God for the project, stating that it was a plan that had been in place long before the organization became involved. “For that reason, I fully believe that the Lord had this plan for this program many years before we ever did,” she said.
The units are expected to be delivered in June, with move-ins planned for September or October 2026. This initiative reflects a growing effort to address housing insecurity through innovative and compassionate solutions.
