Israeli airstrike damages Doctors Without Borders bus in Gaza, injuring staff member
Israeli forces struck a Doctors Without Borders (MSF) bus in Gaza City on September 13, damaging the vehicle and injuring one staff member, according to the medical charity. The bus was carrying 10 humanitarian workers and was clearly marked with a large MSF logo on its roof.
MSF condemned the attack, stating that Israeli forces had again demonstrated a disregard for the safety of humanitarian and medical personnel. The organization emphasized that no part of Gaza is safe and called for the protection of civilians, healthcare workers, and humanitarian staff.
The group also urged that clearly marked medical and humanitarian vehicles be protected from attacks. Israeli actions violating a ceasefire agreement have resulted in 1,372 Palestinian deaths and 4,659 injuries as of Monday, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.
Since October 8, 2023, Israel has killed more than 73,000 Palestinians and injured over 174,000 others in what the group describes as a genocide in Gaza. The conflict has also destroyed around 90% of the enclave’s infrastructure.
The attack raises concerns about the safety of humanitarian operations in the region, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by aid workers. The incident underscores the urgent need for accountability and protection for those providing essential services in conflict zones.
