Madeya is accused of misappropriating over $750,000 from three churches in Derry Township, Jeannette, and McKeesport, as well as from individual donors and church affiliates. Additionally, he faces charges related to the theft of nearly $250,000 from his mother. Thomassey highlighted the complexity of the case, mentioning the extensive paperwork involved and the broader context of how priests are compensated within the Catholic Church.

As the case progresses, Madeya remains in custody at the Westmoreland County Prison, with a scheduled court appearance at the Westmoreland County Courthouse on October 14.
