Former Pastor in Huntsville, Alabama, Sentenced to Prison for Embezzling Over $400,000 From Church
Adrian Derrell Davis, 42, served as pastor of All Nations Worship Assembly in Huntsville, Alabama, from 2018 to 2020, according to WAFF. Reports differ on the amount taken from the church. WAFF reported that Davis embezzled approximately $434,339 in church funds, while other outlets described the amount as over $400,000.
According to 29News, Davis was authorized to receive a salary and parsonage as a marketing consultant for the church. He was not permitted to use church funds for personal purposes, the outlet reported.
Davis pleaded guilty to wire fraud and to filing a false tax return. Reports say the plea was entered in October. One outlet said it occurred in October of the previous year, but the reports do not specify the year in the same way. The wire fraud and false tax return charges were related to the embezzlement scheme, according to KKCO 11 News.
United States District Judge Liles C. Burke sentenced Davis, who was 42 at the time, last week, according to 29News. Several outlets reported that Davis was sentenced to five years in prison, and WECT described the five-year sentence as a term for embezzling $400,000 from his church. ABC3340, however, reported a sentence of six years. The reports do not explain the difference.
