Judge Reduces Bond for Former Deacon Indicted on Aggravated Unlawful Photography Charges

A former deacon at Abba’s House has been indicted on 15 counts of aggravated unlawful photography after court documents revealed he secretly recorded a naked teenager in his home. The charges stem from photos taken between March 21, 2025, and May 23, 2025, according to the indictment.

Criminal court Judge Amanda Dunn recently reduced Christopher Collins’ bond to $225,000, which is $15,000 per charge. This decision followed arguments from his defense attorney that the previous bond amount was disproportionately high compared to cases involving more severe crimes.

Collins, now a former deacon, is also charged with especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor. The prosecuting attorney, Lee Sparks, stated that the bond amount was fair, citing concerns for the safety of the reporting party’s family and the broader community.

During his initial court appearance, Judge Larry Ables lowered Collins’ bond from $50,000 per charge to $25,000. The judge emphasized the court’s ongoing concern for the case and ordered that if Collins is released on bond, he must avoid contact with victims and witnesses.

Collins’ wife sought marriage counseling at the church, where she disclosed the contents of her husband’s phone to a counselor. The counselor then informed Pastor Ronnie Phillips, Jr., who confirmed the allegations to Local 3 News.
