Former Pastor Sentenced to Prison After Embezzling $400K from Church

A former pastor in Alabama has been sentenced to five years in prison for embezzling over $400,000 from his church, a case that highlights the misuse of trust and the consequences of greed (Micah 6:8).

Adrian Derrell Davis, 42, pleaded guilty to wire fraud and filing a false tax return, admitting to using church funds for personal expenses such as cars and entertainment (Proverbs 31:8-9).

The court records reveal that Davis, who worked as a marketing consultant for All Nations Worship Assembly, used unauthorized funds to pay for a mortgage on his mother’s home and to settle personal credit card debts.

Authorities stated that while Davis was authorized to receive a salary and parsonage, he was not permitted to use the funds for personal purposes, which he did extensively over several years.

Davis is also accused of wiring money from the church’s bank account to American Express and using over $35,000 on unspecified retail and entertainment items not approved by the organization.

As part of his plea deal, Davis will pay nearly $550,000 in restitution, with the majority going to the church and a portion to the IRS, to make amends for his actions.

Officials emphasized that individuals in positions of trust must be held accountable for their actions, ensuring justice and protecting the vulnerable in the community (Ephesians 5:11).
