Becky Lepore has accepted a call to serve as Pastor of Congregational Life at Central Moravian Church in Bethlehem, effective July 1. The announcement was made during the Sunday morning service on May 31, with the church’s leadership expressing confidence in her ability to lead and connect the congregation.

Lepore, a Bethlehem resident, has served as the church’s Minister of Music and Organist since 2002. Her new role marks a significant transition in her ministry, reflecting a deepening commitment to pastoral care and community engagement. “Becky brings gifts of loving compassion, a thoughtful passion for justice, and energy for bringing together both our congregation and guests in community,” said the Rev. Dr. Betsy Miller, Moravian University.

Lepore’s life has been closely tied to the Moravian Church. She grew up in parsonages across multiple locations, including Staten Island, N.Y., Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Ohio, and Bethlehem. As a child in the parsonage of College Hill Moravian Church in Bethlehem, she roller-skated past the seminary buildings where she would later study. This early exposure to the church’s life and mission shaped her spiritual foundation.

An accomplished musician, Lepore earned her artist diploma in organ performance from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia in 1998. She also graduated magna cum laude from Moravian College with a bachelor of music degree in 1995. Her musical talents led her to serve for 13 years as director of the Moravian Theological Seminary Choir and as an adjunct faculty member in the university’s music department.

“Although I always loved music, the music itself was never the end goal,” Lepore said. “Instead, music was an expression of my faith and love for God and a meaningful way to help people realize their own unique gifts and strengths.”

Lepore’s spiritual journey led her to seek a deeper calling in ministry. After years of service as minister of music at Central Moravian Church, she experienced a “restlessness of the soul,” which culminated during Holy Communion at the 2023 Synod. This moment of clarity prompted her to pursue ordained ministry. She returned to her roots, enrolling in the master of divinity program at Moravian University School of Theology.

Lepore graduated with her M.Div. in May 2026, setting her on the path toward ordination in the Moravian Church, scheduled for June 14, and installation at Central Moravian Church on July 5. Her ultimate goal is to “give people Jesus,” offering spiritual companionship and support through life’s joys and challenges.

“Over the course of her seminary career, it has been apparent that Becky has responded to God’s call to ordained ministry,” Miller said. “She brings strong scholarship and leadership gifts, a deep faith rooted in grace, and a passion for caring for people wherever they may be in their faith journey.”
