Former Youth Pastor Arrested, Accused of Sexually Abusing Children Nearly Two Decades Ago

A former youth pastor in Baltimore, Maryland, has been arrested and faces charges related to sexual abuse accusations that date back nearly two decades, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

Thomas Pinkerton, aged 52, is currently being held without bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center after being extradicted from Georgia on August 6th. The charges stem from alleged offenses occurring between 2006 and 2010 while Pinkerton was employed at Central Christian Church.

His attorney, Justin Hollimon, has denied the accusations, stating Pinkerton is “vehemently denies the charges levied against him” and expressing confidence in his client’s ability to prove his innocence during a trial.

Lead pastor Larry Kirk of Central Christian Church described the news as “deeply heartbreaking,” emphasizing the church’s commitment to supporting the young men involved and cooperating fully with law enforcement in their investigation, stating there is “absolutely no place for abuse – ever – in the church.”

According to a ministry website linked to Pinkerton and his wife, he was married in 2000 and has two sons, though it seems the site hasn’t been updated since 2020. Pinkerton reportedly gave his first sermon at age 17 and earned a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies from Southwestern Christian University.

Officials noted that additional victims potentially impacted by Pinkerton may have yet to come forward, urging anyone with information to contact the Baltimore County Police Department.
