Gaylon Henley of Trumann Dies at 73

Gaylon Howard Henley, a beloved member of the Trumann community, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2024, at the age of 73. Born in Jonesboro, Arkansas, on February 26, 1951, Gaylon lived most of his life in Trumann, where he was known for his steadfast character and deep commitment to family and community. He was the son of the late Howard and Carnell Collier Henley and was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Camille Lindsey Henley.
A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Gaylon served his country with honor and dedication. Throughout his life, he worked for Globe Life and United American Insurance Companies, contributing to the well-being of others through his professional endeavors. He was a 1969 graduate of Trumann High School and a devoted member of First Baptist Church, where he found spiritual grounding and fellowship.
Gaylon’s life was marked by a love for the outdoors, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his cutting horses. He was also a devoted grandfather, finding immense joy in every event his granddaughters participated in. His granddaughters were described as his greatest blessing, a sentiment that reflected the deep love and care he showed for his family.
He is survived by his son, Grant (Amy) Henley, and daughter, Camille (Scott) McLaughlin, both of Trumann. Gaylon also leaves behind two sisters, Sandra Neal of Sherwood, Arkansas, and Doris Henley of Trumann, along with six granddaughters: Emma Turner, Evelyn Turner, Ella Turner, Madilyn Henley, Ava Jo Henley, and Maggie McLaughlin.
Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church in Trumann, with a celebration of life following at 10:00 a.m. on the day of the service. Dr. John Maley will officiate, and burial will take place at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and again on Thursday from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.
