The church was led by John-Paul Miller, who was married with five children at the time. Mica worked as a nanny for the Miller family, according to an affidavit from John-Paul’s first wife.

At 18, Mica married a fellow church member. She and John-Paul began a relationship in 2015, when she was 20 and he was 35. Both eventually divorced their spouses, and the couple married in November 2017. While John-Paul describes their marriage as loving, Mica’s family offers a starkly different perspective.

Mica was deeply involved in Solid Rock Church, serving as creative director for its worship, youth, and women’s ministries. By late 2023, however, their marriage faced significant challenges, leading to a separation and attempted divorce. Mica filed for divorce in October 2023 but withdrew the filing by Valentine’s Day 2024. Subsequent legal proceedings ensued as they separated, with John-Paul filing for separation again in late February 2024, though the motion was dismissed without prejudice on March 12, 2024.

In early 2024, Mica lived apart from her husband and reported harassment to the Myrtle Beach police, including repeated phone calls, being followed, and having her tires deflated. A mechanic discovered a tracking device on her car, further complicating the situation.
