Harare-based preacher Alistar Chibanda has issued a public apology following his controversial comments about the popular all-women event, Doek & Slay. In a statement released on Saturday, December 20, Chibanda expressed regret for engaging in cyberbullying and making derogatory statements about women who attend the event. He described his words and actions as “wrong, disrespectful, and completely unjustified.”

Chibanda took full responsibility for any harm, offense, or distress his statements may have caused to the organizers, participants, and the wider community that supports the event. He acknowledged that Doek & Slay is a platform that uplifts, empowers, and celebrates women, and his actions undermined those values. He emphasized that there is no excuse for cyberbullying or for language that demeans or disrespects women.
