Christian Zionists Address Internal Challenges at ICEJ Summit Amid Global Antisemitism Concerns

The Jerusalem Summit, held from June 9 to 11, brought together pastors, theologians, diplomats, and Jewish leaders to address the complex issues surrounding Israel, the Church, and antisemitism. Amidst a backdrop of regional tensions, including US strikes on Iran and Iranian missile fire towards Israel, the summit took on a heightened urgency. The gathering, organized by the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ), aimed to explore the challenges facing Christian Zionism, particularly the rising anti-Israel sentiment emerging from unexpected quarters within the Christian community.

President Isaac Herzog, delivering a message from the President’s Residence in Jerusalem, highlighted antisemitism as a global crisis necessitating a multifaceted response. Dr. Jürgen Bühler, president of the ICEJ, articulated the summit’s purpose as a response to the multifaceted crisis facing Christian Zionism. He pointed to the growing challenge of anti-Israel sentiment, not just from political leftists, secular activists, or Muslim communities, but also from within parts of the American and European Christian right.
