Rev. Dr. Michael Youssef, a prominent Christian leader, is set to visit Jordan on September 4 for a public ministry event at the Jordan Evangelical Theological Seminary (JETS) in Amman. The event is sponsored by retired Maj. Gen. Imad Maayah, a former member of the Jordanian parliament and president of the Jordan Evangelical Council. In a recent interview, Youssef emphasized his mission to bring renewed hope in Jesus Christ, foster reconciliation among divided Christians, and advocate for truth and justice amid regional tensions.

Youssef, an Egyptian-American pastor and founder of the Al Malakoot satellite television station, has dedicated over 52 years to ministry, including extensive radio and television outreach. He highlighted the importance of hope, stating, “Whenever you lift up Jesus, there is hope.” With nearly four decades of preaching behind him, Youssef has stepped down from the pulpit to focus on spreading hope, particularly in the Arab world, starting with Jordan.

The ministry event coincides with Jordan’s preparations to commemorate the 2,000th anniversary of Jesus’ baptism at Bethany Beyond the Jordan, a UNESCO-recognized site. Youssef expressed his willingness to participate if invited, underscoring the significance of faith-based unity and community service in the region.

Addressing theological views often associated with Christian Zionism and dispensationalism, Youssef identified as Reformed in theology, emphasizing his commitment to preaching “peace and reconciliation.” He affirmed Israel’s right to exist and defend itself while rejecting unchecked violence on any side. When asked about the biblical reference to Palestinians as “Amalek,” Youssef clarified that neither Palestinians nor Israel should be viewed in such terms, advocating for a balanced perspective.

As Youssef continues his ministry, he remains dedicated to spreading a message of hope and reconciliation, reflecting the biblical call for peace and justice. His efforts align with the principles of neighbor-love and accountability, as seen in Micah 6:8, which calls for justice, mercy, and walking humbly with God.
