Multiple investigations are underway into Andrew Clinton Snead, a 36-year-old Powhatan middle and high school band leader and church music minister, following his arrest on charges of taking indecent liberties with a minor while in his care. The alleged crimes occurred in April and May of 2022, according to court paperwork.

Former student Lauren Johnson expressed disbelief upon first learning of the allegations, stating it was difficult to comment without knowing the full truth. She acknowledged her former respect for Snead, who taught her everything she knew about music.

The allegations against Snead do not pertain to his actions at May Memorial Baptist Church, according to Crime Insider sources. However, he oversees a large instrumental music program at Powhatan Middle and High Schools, where he conducts multiple ensembles and bands.
