ADF-supported pastor arrested again in ongoing investigation for comments on Islam and transgender ideology during street preaching.

BRISTOL (4 April 2026) – Police interrogated a local pastor as part of a four-month criminal investigation stemming from his arrest while street preaching. The incident occurred after he shared his views on Islam and transgender ideology in Broadmead, Bristol.

Pastor Dia Moodley, arrested last November for a similar Christian speech in public, has avoided street preaching since his release due to the ongoing risk of further legal action. He felt compelled to preach today, the day before Easter.

Following a voluntary interview under caution earlier this month, Avon and Somerset Police focused heavily on his comments regarding transgender ideology during questioning. They also asked why he preached in an area known for Muslim presence.

He was arrested on November 22, 2025, under suspicion of a “religiously aggravated” public order offence and inciting religious hatred, despite simply sharing his views in the public square. This marks the second time the pastor has been arrested for peaceful speech.

In March 2024, Moodley was previously arrested for commenting on Islam and transgender ideology while street preaching; that investigation was subsequently dropped. The pastor believes the questioning demonstrates a clear bias against Christian free speech.

“My experience as a Christian pastor, including the police questioning why I preached in an area where I supposedly knew Muslims would be present,” Moodley stated, “undoubtedly shows there is a real risk of authorities allowing Christianity to be pushed out of public spaces in the UK.” He feels the questioning suggests authorities believe they can dictate where Christians can express their views, potentially referencing Micah 6:8.
