Armenian Apostolic Church in Kuwait Commends Kuwait’s Re-election to UN Human Rights Council
Archimandrite Oshin Vartanian, vicar of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Kuwait, praised Kuwait’s re-election to the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2027–2029 term. In a press statement, he extended his congratulations to Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and the government and people of Kuwait. He viewed the election as a reflection of Kuwait’s longstanding commitment to humanitarian efforts and its foreign policy of wisdom and moderation.
The Armenian Apostolic Church has been present in Kuwait for many years, and its members have experienced the respect and freedom afforded to them in practicing their faith. Archimandrite Vartanian highlighted the values of coexistence, tolerance, and individual dignity that underpin this environment. He noted that Kuwait’s election to the Human Rights Council aligns with these principles, which he said are foundational to the country’s identity.
He emphasized that the principles of justice, human dignity, and fraternity upheld by the Human Rights Council are consistent with the values upon which Kuwait was established. Archimandrite Vartanian expressed confidence that Kuwait would continue to advocate for vulnerable populations and promote dialogue and human rights without discrimination.
The vicar also prayed for God’s protection over Kuwait, its leadership, and its people, and for continued security and peace. He expressed hope that Kuwait would remain an oasis of peace and a meeting point for diverse religions and cultures.
