Bishop David Epps to Represent Charismatic Episcopal Church of North America at PCCNA Conference
Bishop David Epps of Sharpsburg will represent Archbishop Charles W. Jones, the North American bishops, and The Charismatic Episcopal Church of North America (CEC-NA) at the annual conference of the Pentecostal/Charismatic of North America (PCCNA) in Washington, D.C., from February 19-20, 2026. The Primate’s Council (House of Bishops) approved the CEC-NA’s application to join the PCCNA as a member denomination during its Fall meeting in New York in October 2025. The application was accepted, and the CEC-NA will be recognized as a full member at the PCCNA annual conference.
For several years, the CEC-NA has engaged in discussions and dialogues with various denominations, including approximately six Anglican jurisdictions, regarding fellowship, cooperation, and relationship-building. The decision by the Primate’s Council reflects a deliberate effort to foster communication with those within the Pentecostal and/or charismatic traditions of the Church.
Sources indicate that there are between 85-110 million Anglican/Episcopal members worldwide, while Pentecostals and charismatics—many of whom are within mainline denominations—number nearly 500 million globally, with about 90 million in North America. The PCCNA comprises almost fifty denominations and ministries, including the Assemblies of God, the Church of God in Christ, the Foursquare Church, and others. The PCCNA is not a denomination but a fellowship of denominations and ministries committed to fellowship, dialogue, and cooperation among Pentecostal and charismatic churches and ministries in North America.
The PCCNA’s mission is to provide a framework for shared witness to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon all flesh in the last days. Membership in the PCCNA does not imply a merging with any other church communion. This decision aligns with the CEC-NA’s founding principles and documents. Bishop Epps will also represent the Cathedral of Christ the King, Sharpsburg, which will be received as a member. He serves as the Rector Emeritus of the Cathedral of Christ the King, the Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of the Mid-South, and the current Auxiliary Bishop to the Primate of North America.
