Former Huntsville Daycare Worker Arrested for Sexual Abuse

Cameron White, 24, a former worker at the Trinity United Methodist Child Development Center in Huntsville, Alabama, was arrested last week on charges of sexual abuse. Court records indicate that the alleged crimes were captured on video, and the church fired White hours before his arrest. White had been employed at the daycare for five years prior to his detention.

Parents are speaking publicly for the first time regarding the incident, with one mother stating that her child told her firsthand what occurred. This mother, whose identity was concealed, described the experience as devastating, noting the pain visible in her child. She expressed that parents believe White should have been removed from the facility much sooner than he was.

The mother told WAFF 48 News that the church did not report the incident to police; rather, parents themselves made the report. She stated that every parent in the affected classroom had gone to the administration regarding White, questioning how it was possible for him to be alone with the children for any length of time. Court documents reveal that the alleged abuse took place during nap time.

Police have confirmed two alleged victims, while two lawsuits claim there are four victims. Parents believe there may be many more potential victims. Attorney Bart Siniard, who represents three alleged victims, has asked anyone who previously worked at Trinity to contact his firm. Siniard stated that he is taking the matter personally and intends to hold everyone accountable until all answers are obtained.

Attorney Will League represents other parents who said they were told White would never be alone with their children. League stated that their investigation has revealed lapses in the procedure and structure at the facility that placed the children at risk. According to lawyers and parents, White’s sister and fiancé still work at Trinity.

In response to the incident, the church placed both the director and associate director on leave and implemented new safety measures. These measures include adding more teachers, moving all classrooms to the front of the building, and adding a police presence outside the facility. One mother expressed anger at the situation, asking where such safety measures were when her child was previously enrolled, and stated she is looking for a new daycare and will not return to Trinity.

The failure to protect minors in a setting dedicated to their care highlights the urgent need for rigorous oversight and accountability.
