Local Christian Ministry Honors Legacy of Gigi’s Cupcakes Owner Through Donation Appeal
Jennifer Cooper, the owner of Gigi’s Cupcakes in Columbus, has passed away following a tragic accident. Her husband, Patrick Cooper, shared the news on Facebook on November 21, expressing the profound impact Jennifer had on those around her. “Jennifer touched many lives, and she loved using Gigi’s as a platform not just to sell cakes and cupcakes, but as an outreach to others,” he wrote. The couple’s announcement emphasized the enduring nature of Jennifer’s legacy, urging the community to continue supporting her family and the staff at Gigi’s.
Patrick Cooper also invited the public to contribute to StoryTellers Live, a Christian ministry, in Jennifer’s honor. As a member of the Auburn/Opelika Community team, Jennifer’s commitment to service and outreach was evident in her work. Donations can be made online at www.storytellerslive.org/jennifercooper, with the ministry acknowledging her “servant heart and gentle spirit” that blessed those she met.
The community has responded with an outpouring of support and remembrance. Over 200 customers have shared condolences and reflections on Jennifer’s kindness and welcoming presence. Brenda Fowler Lisle described the warm atmosphere at Gigi’s as something Jennifer created, noting that the employees reflected her character. Others, like Jenny Ann, highlighted Jennifer’s generosity in supporting local schools and her unmatched kindness.
Visitation for Jennifer will begin at 11 a.m. on November 25 at First Baptist Church Opelika, followed by a celebration of life at 2 p.m. A graveside service will take place at Town Creek Cemetery in Auburn, AL. Gigi’s Cupcakes will be closed on November 25 to allow staff to attend the service, as noted in the Facebook post.
The story reflects the theme of justice, mercy, and humble service, echoing Micah 6:8. Jennifer’s life and work exemplified a commitment to serving others with compassion and grace, leaving a lasting impact on her community.
