Louisiana Pastor Terry Reed Convicted of Rape and Juvenile Molestation, Sentenced to 80 Years

A Louisiana pastor has been sentenced to 80 years in prison following conviction for sexually molesting two boys, marking the third time he has been found guilty of abusing minors in the state court system.

The mother of one survivor, speaking on behalf of her son, described Terry Reed as “an utter failure and a sorry excuse for a man” during the sentencing hearing presided over by Judge Ray Steib.

Jurors convicted Reed on May 6th on two counts of third-degree rape and two counts of molestation of a juvenile, according to the district attorney’s office.

Prosecutors revealed Reed manipulated the guardians of his victims by posing as their pastor and using biblical scripture to convince them his actions were normal, leading him to take the minors into his home.

This ruling comes after two prior guilty pleas by Reed in 1997 and 2017 for similar offenses involving juveniles, each carrying maximum sentences of 40 years.

The mother detailed her trust in Reed, whom she knew since childhood, and how her own history of childhood sexual molestation made her vulnerable to his manipulation, ultimately leading to her son being abused.
