Milestone Church Provides 1,000 Thanksgiving Meals and 5.5 Tons of Food to Local Families in Need

As the holiday season approaches, Milestone Church is making a significant impact in its community through acts of service and compassion. This year, the church organized a Thanksgiving food drive, providing 1,000 fully stocked boxes to families who might otherwise go without a holiday meal. Each box is designed as a complete meal kit, ensuring families can enjoy the season with all the essentials for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

Church members participated by registering to shop for specific items through the church’s missions department. These items were then packaged and delivered to families in need, including those associated with local Title I schools and community organizations. “It feels good as a member to know that whenever you’re sitting down to enjoy your Thanksgiving meal, you’re able to be part of something bigger than yourself, like someone else is able to sit down and enjoy a meal too,” said Hannah Long, the Communications Director at Milestone Church.

In addition to the Thanksgiving drive, Milestone Church recently delivered 5.5 tons of high-quality food to two local food banks, Christ Haven and Community Storehouse. This initiative aimed to support families affected by recent reductions in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits. The effort involved semitrucks filled with nutritious, family-friendly food, delivered directly to those in need.

This initiative was funded directly by the church’s budget, reflecting the generosity of its members. The church intentionally selected food items to ensure families could access quality meals, emphasizing that “people in need deserve the best, not just whatever is left over,” as Long highlighted. This approach aligns with the biblical principle of showing love and care for one’s neighbors, as seen in Matthew 25:35, where feeding the hungry is a key expression of faith in action.

For Milestone Church, these outreach programs are more than acts of charity; they embody the church’s mission to serve others as an expression of faith. Through these efforts, the church demonstrates a commitment to mercy, justice, and neighbor-love, ensuring that the community is supported and uplifted during the holiday season and beyond.
