New Apostolic Church in North Bay, Canada, accepts donations for Backpacks of Love campaign
The New Apostolic Church in North Bay has become a key location for a community initiative aimed at supporting the homeless during the winter months. The Compassionate Committee for the Homeless has launched the Backpacks of Love campaign, seeking donations to fill 150 backpacks and 150 supplemental bags with essential items for those in need.
The campaign’s first drop-off day saw enough donations to fill 35 backpacks, but the committee emphasized the need for continued community support to meet its goal. “We need the community of North Bay’s generosity to fill the remaining 115 backpacks and 150 supplemental bags in order to reach our goal,” the committee stated in a news release.
Donations are being collected at the New Apostolic Church, located at 46 Joseph St., from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday. The committee has outlined a list of needed items, including camping-style backpacks, facial tissue, emergency blankets, granola bars, tarps, and winter slippers, among others.
The initiative reflects the church’s commitment to serving the community and addressing local needs. The campaign underscores the importance of compassion and practical support for vulnerable individuals, aligning with the biblical call to care for the less fortunate.
