New Apostolic Church Member Ann Komula Dies After Brief Illness
Ann Marie Komula, who passed away on February 13, 2025, at the age of 78, was a devoted member of the New Apostolic Church and a steadfast supporter of her husband’s ministry. Born on January 24, 1947, in Harrington, Maine, she was raised by her grandmother, Ethel Garnett, in Conneaut, Ohio, after the early loss of her parents. Her journey within the church began in high school when she joined through the invitation of a friend, following assistance with confirmation class studies. It was during her time in the church youth group that she met her future husband, Renne Komula, and they married in 1968. The church later called them to establish a congregation in Dunkirk, New York, where their two children, Renne Jr. and Lisa, were born. In 1977, the family was again entrusted with founding a congregation in Columbus, Ohio.
Ann supported Renne in his ministry for over three decades until his retirement in 2008. Her involvement in the church extended beyond her husband’s service, as she remained an active and cherished member of her small group, a prayer warrior for her family and congregation, and a living example of unwavering faith. Even in her final days, she expressed her faith with the words, “Keep the faith!” Her commitment to her family and community was equally profound. She balanced her role as a homemaker with work outside the home, cleaning houses and later serving as a clerical worker at Careworks. Her dedication to her job and her genuine kindness left a lasting impact on those she served.
Ann’s life was marked by a deep sense of service and care for others. She was known for her meticulous attention to detail and her willingness to give her best in every task. Whether preparing meals for friends, baking treats for family, or providing refreshments for her lawn care team, she found joy in serving others. Her family often noted her habit of being the first to start cleaning up after meals, regardless of who hosted the gathering. Her love for her family was evident in the time she spent with them, especially on trips to the beach and Disney World, and in traveling with her husband.
Ann is survived by her children, Renne (Dena) Komula and Lisa (Timothy) Speidel, and her grandchildren, Ashley (Kieran) Weller, Timothy (Amanda) Speidel, Tyler (Alli) Speidel, Noah, and Luke Komula. She also leaves behind great-grandchildren, including Cohen Ortiz, Aleksi and Kiara Weller, and Wyatt and Finnleigh Speidel. Her sisters-in-law, Amy Komula, Marlene Komula, Georgia Allred, and Robin Allred, along with many nieces and nephews, will remember her for her kindness and faith. Her life reflects the biblical call to love one’s neighbor as oneself, as seen in Micah 6:8, which emphasizes doing justice, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God.
