New Hope Presbyterian Church to Host Grand Opening on Nov. 8
New Hope Presbyterian Church is set to open its doors to the community on November 8 with a grand opening ceremony during its 10:30 a.m. worship service. The church, located at 25323 Roesner Lane in Katy, just south of Westheimer Parkway, will host a reception following the service. All are invited to attend this event, which marks the beginning of a new chapter for the congregation.
In the lead-up to the grand opening, the church will host a congregation luncheon on October 18, offering food, fellowship, and opportunities for community engagement. Regular activities include the “Presbyterian Women” meeting, which takes place on the first Wednesday of each month, and choir practice, held every Wednesday. These gatherings reflect the church’s commitment to fostering connection and spiritual growth among its members.
The church is led by interim minister Rev. Cindy Mood, LCSW-S, and her husband, Charlie. Together, they have two children. Rev. Mood’s leadership brings a blend of pastoral care and professional expertise, as evidenced by her credentials in clinical social work.
New Hope Presbyterian Katy is recognized as the oldest Presbyterian (PCUSA) church in the Katy/West Houston area. According to the church’s website, the original First Presbyterian Church of Barker was chartered in 1906. The congregation grew significantly, leading to the purchase of five acres on Mason Road in 1976. The current building was dedicated in 1980, and the church celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2006.
The church’s history underscores its enduring presence and dedication to the community. As it moves into its new location, New Hope Presbyterian Church continues to serve as a beacon of faith and fellowship, rooted in its Presbyterian heritage and committed to outreach and service. This transition reflects the church’s ongoing mission to provide spiritual guidance and support to those in the Katy area.
