Sadie Willard Lyon, 81, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 10, 2026, in Kernersville, surrounded by her family. Born on September 18, 1944, in Forsyth County, she was the daughter of Clay and Pauline Smith Willard. Lyon was an active member of Kernersville Wesleyan Church and the Leo Record Sunday School Class, where she was known for her dedication to her church family and regular participation in worship, programs, and Sunday lunches with friends.

Throughout her life, Lyon had a strong commitment to helping others, which was reflected in her various jobs with the school system, restaurants, and local nursing homes. She also volunteered in the Helpers Club at Beeson Crossroads Fire Department in the late 1950s. Her love for family was evident in her presence at every celebration, where she brought homemade fruit salad, fudge, and egg custard pie. She cherished time with her great grandchildren and was known for her warm smile, giggle, and hugs.

Lyon was preceded in death by her husband, John Lyon, and her daughter, Tammy Hart. She is survived by her son, Boyd Hart, Jr., and his wife, Tammie; grandchildren, J.B. Hart and his wife, Jessica, and Seth Hart and his wife, Emily; great grandchildren, Asher, James, Jack, and Anna; a sister, Frances Myers and her husband, Bruce; a special neighbor, Bob Szabo; many nieces and nephews; and her cat, “Angel.”

A funeral service will be held at Kernersville Wesleyan Church on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., with Pastors Travis Shannon, Leon Thompson, and Don Martin officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will take place at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

Memorials may be made to Kernersville Wesleyan Church or Trellis Supportive Care. Her life, marked by service and love, reflects the values of community and care that are central to many Wesleyan-Holiness churches, embodying the spirit of Micah 6:8—acting justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God.
