Seventh-day Adventist Church Launches Global Movement OneVoice27 to Reflect on Jesus’ Mission and Promote Compassion
Paulo Lopes, president of ADRA International, emphasized the importance of hope in the work of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He highlighted that hope is not just a concept but a practical expression of compassion through action. This message aligns with the Church’s global mission, which seeks to embody the teachings of Jesus by serving communities in need.
On September 5, the Seventh-day Adventist Church launched OneVoice27, a global movement marking the 2,000th anniversary of Jesus’ baptism in 2027. This initiative invites the Church family to reflect on Jesus’ example and consider how to live out His mission in their local communities. The movement underscores the Adventist commitment to service and compassion as central to their faith.
ADRA, an organization affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church, operates globally to support communities facing poverty, crisis, and vulnerability. Staff, volunteers, and partners respond to disasters, assist in rebuilding efforts, and build relationships by asking, “What can we do?” Their work reflects the Adventist belief in practical service as a form of hope and compassion.
The Church encourages individuals to engage in service tailored to their communities. Whether organizing meals for families in need, visiting isolated individuals, or repairing homes, the focus is on meaningful, local action. This approach recognizes that each community has unique needs and that those within them often understand these needs best.
To deepen understanding of service, ADRA has introduced a new devotional titled *Serving Like Jesus: Love in Action*. It features stories from ADRA workers and others, exploring compassion, faith, and service as lived experiences. The devotional aims to inspire daily actions rooted in love and service.
Through compassion hubs, ADRA shares real stories of impact from around the world. These hubs highlight real relationships, real service, and real change, illustrating how compassion becomes visible in practical ways. The initiative seeks to connect people with the tangible effects of their service.
Ultimately, the movement emphasizes that service is driven by individuals who choose to act. These individuals include ADRA staff, volunteers, church members, and community leaders. Their diverse forms of service reflect the Adventist commitment to living out the teachings of Jesus through practical, compassionate action.
