Spiceland Friends Church Celebrates 53rd Annual Holiday Bazaar on Nov. 12 (Spiceland, Indiana)
The 53rd annual Spiceland Friends Church Holiday Bazaar will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12. The event, held at the Spiceland Friends Church, 401 W. Main St., has become a cherished tradition in the community. It attracts between 220 and 400 attendees each year, showcasing a variety of handmade goods created by local artisans and church members.
The Friends Crochet Group, a long-standing part of the church’s activities, meets every Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Members of the group not only gather to create items but also celebrate with a Christmas party annually. This year’s gathering included Christian Miller, Michelle LaBolle-McKallip, and Renee Adams, who shared their craft and fellowship.
Vendors at the bazaar offer a range of items, including handmade baskets crafted by Marilyn Thompson, decorative Santas made by Pat Bogue, and other handmade goods such as crocheted hats, baby blankets, paintings, and ceramics. These items reflect the community’s commitment to creativity, craftsmanship, and mutual support.
The holiday bazaar serves as a platform for local artisans to share their talents and connect with the community. It also highlights the church’s role in fostering a sense of belonging and purpose through shared activities and creative expression.
As the event continues to draw attendees, it remains a testament to the enduring spirit of the Spiceland Friends Church. The bazaar not only celebrates the season but also embodies the values of care, service, and community that are central to the Friends tradition.
The tradition of the holiday bazaar underscores the church’s dedication to nurturing relationships and supporting local talent. Through such events, the church continues to fulfill its mission of fostering a welcoming environment where individuals can contribute and connect.
