The Rev. Dr. Aimee Moiso has been selected to manage the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)’s social witness policy, beginning her service on Aug. 18. Moiso will work half-time through the end of 2025 and full-time in 2026, serving in an interim capacity. She will be eligible to apply for the full-time position at the end of her term.

Moiso succeeds the Rev. Dr. Dhawn B. Martin, who is now teaching theology at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. In a statement, Moiso expressed her honor at joining the PC(USA) and furthering its social witness, especially amid national and international turmoil. She emphasized the importance of the church’s voice in the public square as realities like Christian nationalism and xenophobia intensify.

Currently an independent scholar in Louisville, Kentucky, Moiso previously served as Associate Director of the Louisville Institute. The Rev. Jihyun Oh, Stated Clerk of the General Assembly and Executive Director of the Interim Unified Agency, praised Moiso’s commitment to justice and naming important truths, stating she will serve the IUA and the whole church well.

Moiso has represented the PC(USA) in various ecumenical settings, including the International Reformed-Anglican Dialogue. In her new role, she will support the Advisory Committee on Social Witness Policy and help the church engage in social witness policies passed by the General Assembly.

Ordained by Cascades Presbytery, Moiso is a member-at-large in Mid-Kentucky Presbytery. She holds a 1997 degree from Whitworth University and a 2006 MDiv from San Francisco Theological Seminary. In 2007, she earned a Master of Ecumenical Studies degree from Bossey Ecumenical Institute and the University of Geneva, with a thesis titled “How Matters: A Study of the Relation.”
