Transformation Church Volunteers Pack 202,176 Meals in One Day for Global and Local Hunger Relief
Transformation Church mobilized over 1,200 volunteers to pack 200,000 meals in a single day, combining global hunger relief with local outreach efforts. The event, held during Transformation Church’s annual Serve Day, involved partnerships with Feed My Starving Children, Tacos 4 Life, and the Bixby Outreach Center. Volunteers worked to prepare meals for children and families facing hunger both locally and internationally.
Amberly Bell, Executive Pastor at Transformation Church, explained that the event has grown significantly since its inception. Previously, the church conducted monthly outreach efforts with only 30 to 50 participants. Now, Serve Day draws volunteers from across the country and even across the ocean. This year, attendees included individuals from Ireland, California, and Coweta, Oklahoma, with some traveling great distances to participate.
Keith McGregor and Andrew Logan, who traveled from Ireland, emphasized their commitment to serving. They described their journey, which included driving to Dublin, flying directly to Dallas, and renting a car to reach Tulsa. Their participation reflects a global commitment to mercy work, as they sought to honor God through service.
The event also included a local component, with volunteers assembling over 400 “break bags” for children in Bixby who qualify for free or reduced-price lunches. This effort highlights the church’s dedication to meeting immediate needs in their community while addressing broader humanitarian concerns.
The success of the day was marked by the number of meals packed—202,176, surpassing the original goal. This achievement underscores the power of collective action and the importance of community involvement in addressing hunger. As volunteers worked side by side, they demonstrated the value of neighbor-love and the impact of unity in service.
The event’s growth reflects a growing awareness of the need for practical mercy and outreach. Transformation Church’s Serve Day serves as a reminder of the call to care for the hungry, as Jesus taught in Matthew 25:35, where He said, “I was hungry and you gave me food.” This day exemplifies that call in action, bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds to serve a common purpose.
Through such efforts, churches and ministries continue to play a vital role in addressing local and global needs. The collaboration between local and international volunteers illustrates the potential for faith communities to make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.
