Virginia Pastor Arrested in Prostitution Sting
John Blanchard, a senior pastor at Rock Church in Virginia Beach, was arrested in connection with allegations of solicitation of prostitution from a minor. The arrest followed a two-day police sting operation conducted by the Chesterfield County Police Special Victims Unit. During the operation, detectives intercepted 17 men, including Blanchard, who were allegedly seeking to arrange sexual encounters with minors through online and social media platforms.
The men believed they were communicating with minors and coordinating meetings, but in reality, they were engaging with law enforcement officers. Blanchard was arrested on October 29 on charges of solicitation of prostitution from a minor aged 16 or older and using a vehicle to promote prostitution or unlawful sex. He was released on bond following his arrest.
Blanchard and his wife, Robin, have served as lead pastors at Rock Church since 2013. The church’s website lists them as senior pastors, highlighting their role in the community. The allegations against Blanchard underscore the gravity of the charges, which involve the exploitation of minors and the misuse of religious authority.
The case highlights the importance of accountability and the protection of vulnerable individuals. As the Bible reminds us, we are called to uphold justice and care for those in need. This incident serves as a sobering reminder of the responsibilities that come with leadership, particularly in positions of influence and trust.
