Wellvana Interfaith Network launches with Church of God in Christ to support faith-based healthcare providers in underserved communities
The Wellvana Interfaith Network (WIN) has launched to support primary care physicians in faith-based communities across the United States, with a focus on transitioning from volume-based to value-based care. This initiative, a partnership between Wellvana and the Church of God in Christ (COGIC), one of the largest Pentecostal denominations in the country, aims to improve patient outcomes, address health disparities, and reduce healthcare costs.
The collaboration includes an exclusive agreement between Wellvana and COGIC, which has already begun onboarding primary care providers in underserved areas, including Memphis, Tennessee, where COGIC is headquartered. This partnership reflects a growing recognition of the role faith-based communities can play in healthcare delivery and the importance of aligning spiritual and physical well-being.
Wellvana President and Chief Executive Officer Kyle Wailes emphasized that the organization’s roots in neighborhood clinics position it to build trusted relationships with physicians and patients within COGIC communities. Through WIN, Wellvana offers financial and clinical support to faith-based providers, enabling them to focus on patient care while navigating the complexities of modern healthcare systems.
COGIC leaders have expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting its potential to transform care within their communities. The denomination has long been committed to addressing health disparities, particularly within African American populations, and sees this initiative as a step toward achieving its “Decade of Health” goals. COGIC leaders are encouraging physicians in their congregations to recommit to these efforts and participate in the program’s next steps.
The initiative allows faith-based healthcare providers to retain their independence while Wellvana takes on the upfront financial burden for practices. This model supports a patient-centered approach to medical management, aligning with the values of many faith-based communities that prioritize holistic care. The partnership underscores the potential for collaboration between faith-based organizations and healthcare systems to address systemic challenges in public health.
By focusing on both the spiritual and physical needs of communities, the Wellvana Interfaith Network seeks to create a more equitable healthcare landscape. This effort aligns with the biblical principle found in Micah 6:8, which calls for justice, mercy, and humility in serving others. As the network expands, it may serve as a model for other faith-based organizations seeking to integrate healthcare services with their broader missions.
