I’ll Go First: Time to Step Up

Things aren’t going well, not in Tennessee, not in our country, and not in the world. We’re all dealing with problems, but the biggest issue is selfishness. People in power, people with money—they don’t seem to care. They aren’t trying to fix the problems we all face, and that makes me really mad.

We’ve become a world that only thinks about ourselves. And sure, maybe we can’t change the whole world overnight. But as Christians, we’re supposed to be different. Jesus taught us to care for others, and we are called to live out #RealChristianity. It’s time to wake up, church (#WakeUpChurch)! Too many people who say they follow Jesus are only focused on their own lives. It’s time for a change.

If you’re blessed enough not to struggle every day, that’s great! But remember, the Bible says, “To whom much is given, much will be required” (Luke 12:48). There are so many people who are hurting and dealing with real problems, and we are called to help them. That’s what #JesusStuff is really about—living out our faith by loving our neighbors, just as Jesus told us in Matthew 22:39, “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

In this video, I’m going to do something about it. I’m going to shine a light on the wealthiest people who are living comfortably while others suffer. A lot of them live in some of the richest areas in the country, and many even lead big religious organizations. So, I’m going to go and do what Jesus would do—help those who are hurting and suffering, and I’ll go first (#IllGoFirst).

This is what I call #FaithInAction. It’s more than just singing worship songs or writing a check. It’s about actually meeting people where they are and helping them in real ways. James 2:17 says, “Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” We need to show love through what we do, not just what we say.

We, as Christians, have been slacking (#ChristianCallToAction). We’ve watered down the message of Jesus, making it seem like all you have to do is say a few words and everything’s okay. But that’s not real faith. We need to take our mission seriously—loving our neighbors, helping the poor, and making a real difference in the world.

So, I’ll go first (#StandUpForOthers). I’ll lead the way, and I hope others will join me in doing the real Jesus stuff—helping those in need, loving our neighbors, and living out true #ChristianityToday. Let’s make a real change together.
