In a recent development, Jeffrey Turner Taylor, former youth minister at The Falls Church Anglican in Northern Virginia, has been indicted on federal charges. The allegations include enticing minors to engage in illegal sexual activity and traveling with the intent to engage in such activities. Taylor served at the church from 1990 to 2002, during which he is accused of sexually grooming and molesting multiple boys. The allegations state that Taylor engaged in inappropriate conduct, including sexual horseplay and discussions about sexuality.
The Washington Post reported in January 2025 that Taylor’s attorney, Christopher McDowell, stated Taylor had not worked for any religious organization in over 15 years. McDowell also mentioned that Taylor refrained from sharing employment details due to past contacts with his employers regarding these allegations.
Following his tenure at The Falls Church, Taylor served as a youth minister at two other churches in Atlanta. Court documents allege that his inappropriate behavior continued until 2008. The Falls Church, originally an Episcopal congregation during Taylor’s service, later joined the Anglican Church of North America.
In 2023, The Falls Church initiated an investigation into Taylor’s conduct. The church’s investigation, conducted by Edward Isler of the Isler Dare law firm, concluded that Taylor engaged in inappropriate behavior, sexual grooming, and abuse while employed there. The report highlighted that church leadership was unaware of Taylor’s alleged abuse during his employment. In 2007, upon learning of one abuse allegation, the church took some remedial actions but did not fully investigate the possibility of other victims.
This situation underscores the importance of accountability and vigilance within institutions to protect the vulnerable and uphold justice, as emphasized in Micah 6:8. The church’s efforts to confront and address these allegations reflect a commitment to truth and care for victims, aligning with the biblical call for justice and integrity.
