Elmont Man Charged with Rape of 10-Year-Old Met at Queens After-School Program

In a recent development, Nassau County police have charged Daniel Butler, 41, with serious offenses following allegations of sexual misconduct involving a 10-year-old girl. The charges include first-degree rape and sexual abuse of a minor under 11, as well as endangering the welfare of a child. These incidents reportedly occurred in December in Elmont and are linked to Butler’s role as the director of an after-school program at Fullness of Joy Ministries Church in Queens.
The girl, who was a participant in the church’s after-school program on Farmers Boulevard in St. Albans, Queens, was reportedly also hosted by Butler for child care at his residence on Rockmart Avenue in Elmont. The case remains under investigation by both Nassau County police and the NYPD, with details of the assault being limited at this stage.
During his arraignment at Nassau First District Court in Hempstead, Butler was represented by the Legal Aid Society of Nassau County, as he did not have a defense attorney listed. The court, presided over by Judge Maxine Broderick, set his bail at $100,000 cash, $200,000 bond, and a $1 million partially-secured bond, while also issuing a stay-away order of protection.
The Fullness of Joy Ministries Church, led by Bishop David S. Butler, includes an after-school program that operates from September through June. Despite inquiries, the church has not publicly responded to the charges. The Nassau County police Special Victim’s Squad and Nassau County Crime Stoppers are actively seeking any additional information from potential victims of similar incidents.
