Upper Darby Church Deacon Pleads Guilty to Wire Fraud, Defrauding Church and Political Organization of Over $142,000

In a recent development, Willie Jordon, 58, of Upper Darby, PA, has entered a guilty plea to two counts of wire fraud in federal court. Jordon, who served as a deacon at a local church, was entrusted with significant control over the church’s funds. Despite not receiving a salary from the church, he was compensated through his role as Director of Operations for a state senator in Pennsylvania.

From January 2020 through January 2024, Jordon fraudulently issued checks to himself, disguising them as reimbursements for church-related expenses he never incurred. This deceitful act resulted in approximately 82 fraudulent checks totaling $57,384, causing substantial financial harm to the church. The church trustees and members were unaware of these unauthorized transactions.

In a separate but related scheme, Jordon misappropriated funds from a political organization where he served as the elected leader. From 1996 until April 2025, he managed the organization’s finances without receiving a salary. During the period from January 2020 to January 2024, Jordon exploited his position by opening bank accounts in the organization’s name, making himself the sole signatory, and using debit cards to transfer funds for personal gain. This resulted in the theft of over $85,000 from the organization.

Jordon’s actions highlight the importance of accountability and transparency within institutions, reflecting the biblical call to justice and integrity as emphasized in Micah 6:8. As he awaits sentencing on November 19, 2025, Jordon faces the possibility of up to 20 years in federal prison.
