Anglican Church of Luxembourg to Hold Annual Remembrance Day Service on 8 November 2026

The Anglican Church of Luxembourg has announced that it will hold its annual Remembrance Day Service on Sunday, 8 November 2026. The event, open to all including children, will take place at the Konvikt Chapel in Luxembourg City. This tradition honors the contributions of British and Commonwealth troops and civilians during the World Wars and other conflicts.

Remembrance Day is observed on the Sunday closest to 11 November, the anniversary of the WWI Armistice. This year’s service will begin at 10.45am, with attendees asked to arrive by 10.40am. The ceremony will include participation from representatives of embassies, diplomatic missions, His Majesty’s Armed Forces, and various associations and organisations, who will lay wreaths as part of the event.

At 11am, the congregation will participate in the Act of Remembrance, a two-minute silence to honor those who lost their lives in wars and conflicts. This moment of reflection is a central feature of the service, underscoring the community’s commitment to remembering and respecting the sacrifices made by service members and civilians.

The Anglican Church of Luxembourg continues to play a role in fostering remembrance and solidarity through such events. The service serves as a reminder of the shared history and values that bind nations together in times of conflict and peace. It also reflects the church’s dedication to honoring the past while supporting the present and future.

The Remembrance Day Service aligns with the broader Anglican Communion’s emphasis on remembering and learning from history. It provides an opportunity for the community to come together in a spirit of unity and gratitude, recognizing the enduring impact of those who served. The event highlights the church’s role in preserving historical memory and promoting collective reflection.
