Brentwood United Methodist Church Celebrates 175th Anniversary with Anniversary Services and Picnic

Brentwood United Methodist Church (BUMC) celebrated its 175th anniversary with a special event on Sunday, Sept. 20, honoring its long history of ministry, fellowship, and service. The church, located in Brentwood, Tennessee, marked the milestone with two worship services and a community picnic on its front lawn, drawing members and former pastors to reflect on its legacy.

The anniversary celebration served as a time to recognize the church’s enduring commitment to community and spiritual growth. Throughout its 175 years, BUMC has faced various challenges, including natural disasters and societal changes, yet it has consistently rebuilt and expanded its mission. The event highlighted the resilience of the congregation and its dedication to continuing its work in the community.

A key element of the celebration was the inclusion of former pastors, who shared memories and insights about the church’s history. Music filled the sanctuary, and a time capsule was presented to connect the current congregation with past generations. These elements underscored the church’s emphasis on continuity and the importance of preserving its heritage.

The anniversary also provided an opportunity to look ahead. The congregation expressed a commitment to future ministry and service, reflecting the Methodist tradition of active engagement in both spiritual and practical matters. The event emphasized the church’s ongoing mission to serve its community and uphold its values.

As BUMC moves forward, it continues to embody the Methodist emphasis on fellowship, service, and spiritual growth. The anniversary celebration not only honored the past but also reaffirmed the church’s dedication to its mission in the present and future. The event served as a reminder of the importance of community and the enduring impact of faithful service.
