Camille S. Bloom, a devoted member of the Church of Christ, Scientist, passed away on January 20, 2022, at the age of 88. She was known to her family and friends as “Camille” and to her grandson as “Gran.” Camille lived a life filled with love, enthusiasm, and a deep commitment to her faith. She was a devout Christian Scientist and an active member of the Seventh Church of Christ, Scientist, where she served on the Board, taught Sunday School, and volunteered in the Reading Room.

Born in El Paso, Texas, Camille spent much of her life in the state, though she also lived on the East Coast and in several other locations across the United States. She graduated from The Kincaid School and Vassar College, and earned her Master’s Degree from Bank Street College in New York City. Camille had a passion for teaching, particularly in pre-K and elementary education. Her dedication to learning and sharing knowledge extended to her involvement in her church and community.

Camille’s life was marked by her love for animals, her enthusiasm for tennis, and her support for her children and grandchildren in all their endeavors. She was an avid Astros fan and attended every game she could, especially those of her grandson. Camille also enjoyed attending plays, museums, traveling, reading, playing bridge, writing, and spending time with family and friends. Her home was a place of warmth and celebration, where birthdays were marked with handwritten cards and accomplishments were cherished.

Camille is survived by her husband, Donald L. Bloom; her children, Donald L. Bloom Jr. and Jennifer E. Bloom; her grandson, Bryce J. Bloom-Timmins; her sister, Cynthia C. Black; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry D. Stringer and Glen Eyrie Boyd, and her brother, Henry D. Stringer, Jr.

A memorial service will be held on February 19, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, located at 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. Following the service, a reception will take place in the adjacent grand foyer. Masks are strongly encouraged for those attending in person, and a livestream will be available for those unable to join in person.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rescued Pets Movement, Scout’s Honor Rescue, or The Branch School, reflecting Camille’s commitment to service and care for others. Her life exemplifies the call to love and serve, as seen in Micah 6:8, which reminds us of the importance of justice, mercy, and humble service.
