Children’s Charity Music Concert Raises Thousands at Seventh-day Adventist Church
Children from the Stanborough Park Seventh-day Adventist Church in Garston participated in their third annual charity music concert, raising nearly £3,000 for two charities that support children and young people with their education. Over 35 children, aged six to 14, took part in the event, showcasing their musical talents through a variety of instruments and vocal performances.
Many of the children also sang in the choir “Angel Voices,” while others played instruments such as piano, violin, viola, cello, trumpet, saxophone, and flute. Their musical abilities ranged from beginner to advanced levels, with solo performances featuring works by Scarlatti, Bruch, and Vivaldi. The group also performed together as an orchestra, playing the main theme from Finlandia by Sibelius.
Five of the children alone raised more than £400 for ADRA, and it is estimated that the total amount collected by all participants will quadruple by the time the funds are fully accounted for. The concert was well-supported by families, friends, and church members who attended to show their encouragement and appreciation for the children’s efforts.
The event was organized and conducted by Ms Ji-Eun Ahn, the leader of the Music Department at the church. A separate collection raised £1,200 for the church’s Young Musicians’ Fund, which provides financial support to talented young amateur and professional musicians facing temporary financial hardship. This fund offers loans and bursaries to help cover musical tuition or living expenses.
The concert highlighted the church’s commitment to community service and the development of young talent. Through music, the children not only entertained but also contributed to charitable causes, reflecting the Adventist emphasis on service and care for others. The event demonstrated the power of music to bring people together and make a positive impact.
