In 2009, the Kowloon Tong Church of the Chinese Christian and Missionary Alliance (KTAC) received a land grant from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government for the development of an innovative school campus in Butterfly Valley, Lai Chi Kok. This grant was the largest greenfield site allocated to any school at the time.

In August 2017, the first phase of the campus was completed, and the school was officially named Christian Alliance International School (CAIS). Since its founding, the CAIS community has continued to expand its educational offerings through ongoing campus development.

Founded by Reverend John Bechtel in the 1940s, KTAC has a long history of missionary work and education. The church established its first school in Hong Kong in 1955 with a vision of creating a Christ-centered curriculum that empowers students to become Christian leaders and global citizens. This vision remains central to CAIS today.

On March 25, a grand opening ceremony marked the completion of Phase IIA of the campus, the Amenities Building. The event featured distinguished guests, including Dr. Choi Yuk-lin, JP, Secretary for Education, and Mr. Hugues Alexandre Moniz, Consul from the Consulate General of Canada in Hong Kong & Macao.

During the ceremony, the school’s orchestra and choir performed in the Alliance Hall, and guests participated in a light-up ceremony. In his welcome remarks, CAIS Head Mr. Richard Vanderpyl emphasized the importance of nurturing students to become confident individuals who can positively influence society for good and for God’s glory.

Since its establishment in 2017, CAIS has grown significantly. The school now enrolls over 1,500 students from more than 25 nationalities, offering a through-train education for children aged 5 to 17. The institution continues to prepare students with integrity and discernment to make a positive impact on the community and the world.
