Former Missions Pastor Accused of Luring Teens From Argentina to Sexually Abuse Them

A former North Carolina missions pastor, Luis Sosa, has been arrested in Florida following accusations of sexually abusing two teenage girls between 2002 and 2008. He is currently being held without bond while awaiting charges.

Sosa allegedly lured the minors, aged 13 and 17, from Argentina to the United States by presenting the trip as a “once-in-a-lifetime” mission experience. Reports indicate he led a ministry during the alleged incidents.

He faces 16 felony charges, including sexual activity with a custodian, statutory rape, human trafficking, and indecent liberties with a child. The investigation involves multiple countries and U.S. states, extending beyond North Carolina.

The teens reported the abuse to Argentinian authorities this year, leading to an investigation that eventually reached the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office via the Argentinian Consulate. As probes continued, Sosa fled the jurisdiction.

Apprehended in Florida, Sosa was subsequently informed by law enforcement he would be charged with human trafficking related to the North Carolina investigation. The case is now set to proceed through extradition.
