Global Church of God Alliance Gathering Strengthens International Movement Bonds
Leaderwell Pohsngap, based in Shillong, Meghalaya, India, hosted the Global Church of God Alliance (GCGA) meetings in Tampa. He emphasized the significance of the gathering, noting the global reach of the Church of God movement. “It never dawned on me [before this gathering] that the Movement is in so many countries of the world,” he reflected.
Representatives from over ninety countries, including Barbados, participated in the GCGA. Lennox Boyce, representing the Church of God in Barbados, highlighted the sense of unity and shared purpose. “I will remember the camaraderie, unity, and sense of purpose that prevailed in the room,” he recalled. “While there were differences in the process of establishing the Global Church of God Alliance, there certainly was unity of purpose in its necessity, importance, and relevance.”
The GCGA meetings included reports from various regions, offering insights into the Church of God’s global work. These reports provided both statistical data and personal stories, illustrating the movement’s impact beyond national borders. Communication in both English and Spanish was emphasized, reflecting the diverse linguistic landscape of the Church of God.
The alliance aims to strengthen connections among Church of God congregations worldwide, fostering collaboration and shared mission. The gathering followed the Church of God Convention in Tampa, with echoes of that event still resonating among participants. The meetings underscored the importance of unity and collective purpose in advancing the movement’s goals.
God’s work continues through the Church of God, as evidenced by the efforts and testimonies shared during the GCGA. The alliance represents a step toward greater coordination and mutual support among congregations, aligning with the biblical call to love one another and work together for the common good. Micah 6:8 reminds us to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God—principles that guide the Church of God’s global mission.
