Lake Oswego Church Hosts Fundraiser to Support Homeless Shelter
Lake Grove Presbyterian Church is organizing a fundraiser titled “Home Is Where the Art Is” to support Family Promise of Tualatin Valley. The event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church located at 4040 SW Sunset Drive. The fundraiser will showcase local artists, bakers, and musicians, along with a dedicated children’s area.
The proceeds from the event will go toward supporting Bridge to Home, a shelter that offers temporary housing, meals, and personalized care to individuals experiencing homelessness. This initiative reflects the church’s commitment to serving the community through practical outreach and mercy.
Event coordinator Sher Ireland highlighted the collaborative effort behind the fundraiser, noting that eighteen artisans, fourteen musicians, and thirty-one volunteers are contributing their time and talents. “This event is a beautiful example of what happens when a community comes together,” Ireland said in a press release.
Elise Schaff Laubach, executive director of Family Promise of Tualatin Valley, expressed gratitude for the community’s support. “It’s heartening to see so many people using their gifts to help us provide shelter, meals, and the critical services families need to rebuild their lives,” she added. The organization faces challenges due to shrinking federal funding, making community support all the more vital.
The fundraiser underscores the importance of local partnerships in addressing homelessness. By combining artistic expression with service, the event aligns with the biblical call to love neighbors and care for the vulnerable, as seen in Matthew 25:35, where Jesus emphasizes serving those in need.
