Youth Pastor Arrested for DUI Manslaughter in Daughter’s Death Crash

A youth pastor in South Florida faces serious criminal charges following a fatal DUI crash. Joel Isaias Leiniz, 38, was arrested by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office after an investigation into the January 17th incident on South Military Trail near West Palm Beach. According to official reports, Leiniz was driving a 2017 Audi Q7 at excessive speed, estimated at 104 mph, and was impaired, leading to a loss of control and a crash with a concrete pole.
The crash resulted in the death of his eight-year-old daughter, Zoe Alaya Leiniz, who was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained. The other three children in the vehicle were transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment. Leiniz is charged with DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide, crimes that demand full accountability under the law.
During a court hearing, defense attorney Anthony Genova noted Leiniz’s personal struggles, including being a newly widowed father who had been coping with his wife’s battle against cancer. When questioned by Circuit Court Judge Donald Hafele, Leiniz admitted that he had not held outside employment for some time, specifically since January of this year.
